One of Lancashire’s Premier Commercial Fisheries Whitmore has 13 waters for you to choose from and caters for both the pleasure angler and match fisherman. On site there is a superb cafe for you pre-match breakfast, bacon or sausage barm or just for a nice hot coffee on a wold winters day ! There is of course an extensive menu as you can see here Whitmore Cafe

On a match day the lakes can get very busy and an early arrival at weekends is recommended to make sure you get a peg, even though some lakes are reserved for pleasure anglers. Don’t settle down till you know where is available due to matches, you can get all the info and advise from the cafe, where you can also pay for your days fishing, and there is a small shop.

Pegs are all easy to get to and comfortable with most lakes accessible by car, or at least you can get close.

The Carp run to 27lb but there are specimens in abundance with Perch regularly caught over 4lb and some to over 5lb, tench, Bream and Barbel. Silver fish galore including Roach, Rudd and Idde and some Golden OIrfe, plus Chub & even Gudgeon complete the line up. There is also a specialist pond for Catfish & Pike.

The fishery is easy to find, a few miles down Bradshaw Lane, Kirkham, with great motorway access being off junction 3 of the M55 towards Blackpool.
Most methods will catch, with each fishing lake being different, pellets and corn seem to catch bigger fish, maggots bring a fish a chuck.

All methods are used here from pole, to waggler, feeder (note ground bat is not allowed) and specialist methods for some of the bigger fish. Whitmore Fisheries often appears in national fishing magazines and if you search you will see them covering the Big Perch that can be caught here – fresh prawns and as you might expect worm work well and a Perch dibbler, the method seems to be don’t feed to much for these specimen Perch topping 5lb.

In winter you can continue to catch on the deeper Basin Lake, even what most waters have become a struggle a waggler chucked out to the middle will find the fish.
