Once one of the best winter stretches in the country - River DarwenThe Next section up (shown left) was once arguably the best winter stretch of River in Lancashire if not the country for a spell.

A run of a dozen or so pegs, when the Chub were tightly packed as they often were in the winter, especially when the Ribble was running fast – guaranteed every angler 100 – 200lb Fishermen would literally sleep out all night on the river bank in the middle of the winter for one of these pegs – and i don’t mean in a nice cosy bivvy, often just in warm clothes or a sleeping bag and covered in frost by the early hours, but well worth it !

Located upstream from the Capitol Centre/ A6 Bridge we are currently unsure who controls this section, under review.
