Northern Angling Show

Something different, Not fishing but close !
Where : EventCity Trafford Park
Location : Trafford Park, Manchester
When : 20th February 2016
Weather : Inside it was just right !
Excellent event, me and Jon went on the Saturday, all the main tackle manufacturers were there and the odd few that were not were represented by tackle shops and resellers.
We arrived at 8.30am for 9am opening, 500 people already in the queue – but don’t panic if you go its very well organised and efficient and once the doors open you are soon in ! literally thousands inside, but its a huge venue and you never feel crowded plenty of time and space to browser around so take you time, they also do food and drink to keep you going.
Lots of well know fishermen knocking about, Matt Hayes and Mick Brown, Matts one of my heroes I’ve seen all the videos and laughed my socks off at the capers they get up to, and even a quick lesson on using Nash Baits new pellets and ball making device from the lovely Des Taylor.
The plan was to buy a new pair of carp rods having broken one of my beloved Shimano Twin Power rods – part of a pair – that were well over 20 years old. We looked and handled almost every rod on display, from £600 hand built rods to Greys, and right down the scale to what I eventually bought – a pair of £35 Diawa rods, 2.5lb test curve these felt better than any of the most expensive rods. This is personal taste I know 🙂 will report on how they perform, fingers crossed
We also bought a whole bag of “bits’ including bollies and flavouring with matching “wafters” for our summer carping attack. Floats, the aforementioned Nash pellet ballers, and a range of other items, details to follow.
Great day out totally recommended.
Finally : Like all big events it got busy getting out of the car park, about 20 mins, but well worth it.
