First Trip of the year !

Where : Whitmore Fisheries

Weather : Cold but sunny, dry

Insipred by two articles in Anglers Mail, we headed to Whitmore Fisheries a commercial complex with 12 lake.

Fishing peg 15 (Thanks to Gary for the tip off) on The Basin we followed the article to the letter waggler fishing maggot chucked well out with the bait at about 9-10ft

Size 18 barbless ( only barbless allowed ) worked will, better than 20s which we didn’t seem to hook as many on. Heavy float with a few number 4 dotted down to just above the hook link.

Loose fed maggots every cast and caught steadily all morning, we fished 8 till 12 – caught well till they switched off about 11.30 and the call of lunch in the cafe won 🙂

Ended up with a dozen skimmers, 6 Ide, couple of roach, 2 grudge on, one tench and a baby mirror carp and I mean a baby

Well pleased for our first trip out for ages and a new venue

Notes : Sweet flavour on maggots, pinkies also caught

Interesting : Watched a match on one of the other lakes a saw a nice carp caught right in the edge

Also : Cafe does great food we had a sausage barm and later cheese burger and chips washed down with a very nice coffee – all excellent !

Finally : We will be back to target the monster Perch on the other lakes
